Blackjack and Cheating
With the establishment and opening of more and more online and land based casinos, the popularity of blackjack has risen to an all time high. With this tremendous rise in popularity comes a new batch of enterprising players hoping to cheat their way to success.
It's no mystery that gambling games attract large groups of con artists and cheaters. Blackjack is no exception.
For solitary players, cheating at blackjack games has become increasingly difficult due to the advances in casino surveillance technology. Few choices, and even fewer opportunities exist to cheat at blackjack games.
One option is to mark the cards. Again, constant surveillance and ever watchful casino dealers and employees make marking cards near impossible to accomplish.
Another cheating option is to switch the player's cards in hand with hidden cards. As with marking cards, card switchers are more likely to get caught than get away with it. Most of the time, dealers will not hesitate to call card down the moment they notice a card go down the table.
A more plausible and effective way to cheat at blackjack games is for the player to work with the dealer. This partnership opens up vistas of opportunities for both cheaters. Most dealers are known for their masterful abilities to manipulate the cards they're using.
The dealer's talent for sleight of hand -- not to mention the fact that they're holding the cards -- will greatly aid players who wish to cheat their way to winning. Both the player and dealer will profit from such a partnership -- as long as they don't get caught of course.
An agreement to cheat between the dealer and the player however, happens less frequently than a dealer cheating to snag more cash for the casino. Lance Humble, a respected blackjack expert, made this quite clear.
This makes more sense for the dealer, since getting caught cheating by the casino on behalf of the casino will land the unfortunate dealer less harsher terms than being in cahoots with a player. Several reasons were given by Humble why such acts take place.
One reason is that if the blackjack dealer loses a huge amount of casino money, one way to rectify this situation is for the dealer to cheat to make up for the losses.
Blackjack, being a gambling game, lures in its fair share of cheaters and con men. The promise of scoring big wins, and the thrill and excitement offered by the game will no doubt ensure that blackjack and cheating are here to stay.
